NOC4 is just around the corner and everyone's on their toes.. or hands.. whatever. Anyway, as everyone knows, NOC4 is a big production. With big budgets, big cast of actors and actresses, big scores of melodies and musicals - I'm talking big baby~ So with those huge figures and all, it'll be a serious disaster if anyone makes even the slightest of mistakes. Therefore, here are a few of my reminders to those who are part of the NOC4 Production. hehe~

| first CF of the new semester

Just two days ago, on a Sunday night. The time was around 11.20pm, right after our practice, Lionel suddenly inform all of us that we have to prepare a few songs using only the acoustic guitar for the coming Tuesday's CF. Immediately I was overwhelmed by the 'lemah' feeling. We were sort of under pressure from getting the NOC songs right and the fact that we haven't sort out our roll-call and end songs yet made it worse. Joel couldn't play as he had to go back to his hometown on Monday and that leaves just Julian and I. So I guess I wasn't too excited about it but...

Came windy/sunny Monday and we were to meet at Julian's place to practice, Seong was kind enough to volunteer to play along side with us too. As we practiced the first song, This Is Your Life by Switchfoot, I was reminded once more why I joined the NOC band in the first place. Shaking off the 'lemah' feeling, I poured what I have into the songs and together with Julian and Seong, we flooded place. ahaks~ How can I forget my main motive of playing the guitar? Mannn~

Now I'm sitting at home. After having some delicious cheese coffee and cheese cake (compliments from Vijay and Mark), I feel rather happy and satisfied. As Seong and I agree, playing our instruments has always been a pleasure for us, especially when we're playing it for a united reason. We played two songs for CF, This Is Your Life, which happens to be one of the end songs, and Rescue from Desperation album. I guess I was touched by the songs. It became more of a worship than a means of entertainment to me. Heh~ Can't wait for NOC4. Good nite peeps~

Meet Elina Goh. Simple in looks, laughs like a pig, a passion for God, and a heart of gold. She's special for two reasons. One; her birthday falls on the first day of Chinese New Year. How cool is that?! So instead of buying her presents and all, just hand her a nice simple red packet. Kill two birds with a guli. The second reason? Well, because she's my sis and that makes her ever more special. ahaks~

Elina Goh, you ARE the best

I've always looked up to her, ever since I knew her back in MHS. She was in form 6 and she carries a testimony that moved me back then and even now. She was a new Christian back then and at the same time a first generation Christian, she was persecuted by her family but yet she endured it all and held God up high. To her He's her only hope indeed. For that, *salute* respect! ahaks~ I miss those times we hang out together with my dad and bro. Miss those times her two friends, Elaine and Syiok Sial (not real name) accompanied us on those lonely nights. *sigh* Good ol' times. You're the best Elina!

Nearing the end of CNY, my ex-high school mates went on a trip together to Sagil Waterfall. It was quite a tedious event as we planned and try to keep the figures as small as possible but, like all other youths, we're experts at spending. ahaks~ So where IS Sagil? Heard of the *ahem* famous Gunung Ledang (Mount Ledang)? It's the mountain where the legendary warrior of Malacca, Hang Tuah and the Princess of Mount Ledang got down and dirty disappeared without a trace. Still blurr? Go buy a pirated DVD of Puteri Gunung Ledang larr and save yourself some trouble kay?

So the 9 of us (8 Konn Manns and bro) went on a road trip all the way there. I've always like travelling with them in the Turbo Van aka Blink 182 Van. I dunno, I guess there's just something about a bunch of guys sitting in a van talking nonsense all day long. Anyway, Sagil Waterfall is a really cool place indeed. It has many waterfalls, small ones at the bottom, rough ones at the top - we went to the top. It's easy for me to say "we went to the top", but the truth is it's one really long and tiring hike all the way to the highest point but we, the JackAssCrew will not be easy defeated.

After a long and weary trudge up the very steep path, we eventually reach the end of the road. The reward? A very satisfying time to slipping and falling unto hard rocks and swimming in a pool of water that has plenty of fishes. In case you're wondering, yea, we did try to catch those fishes but end up looking like a bunch of idiots. ahaks~ Had a really great time there. These are just one of those memories that will be kept in the archive of the Konn Manns. Hehe~

| Chinese New Year 2006?

Wow~ I haven't blogged for a new record of more than a week (and the last post kinda sucked too). Well I'm back - and blogging. You guys better be happy. ahaks~

Well, it's been a really extraordinary Chinese New Year indeed and there's many reasons why I said that.

2) Had to work to get an ang pow (no kidding)

On the first day of Chinese New Year, it is customary that the family must visit all father-side relatives and I believe most of my generation, our parents have lots and lots of siblings (average of 8). With that, it's easy to say that our grandfathers were really *ahem* 'strong'. Unfortunately, the same can't be said about our own parents as the results can be seen clearly (average of 2). ahaks~

Thus, we went to my oldest aunt's house. Collect ang pows. Chit chat here and there. Run away before old people start talking about relationships. I love the spirit of the holiday and I do love the food that comes with it. ahaks~ But you know, every year feels so routine that the meaning and the spirit of it seems to slowly fade away...

And now for my mother's side. Second day of Chinese New Year is reserved for my mother's side as the Hakka tradition dictates. I may not speak much of the Hakka language but I do my best to honour the traditions. After all, without the traditions, what is there left of the Chinese people's pride?... Damn I'm good at those one-shot profound moments.

Well, basically on the the second day of CNY, my family would drive down to a place call Asahan. It's somewhere near the Jasin town but I guess none of that matters. It's a kampung area after all.

I love my grandma. I enjoy going back to my roots and reflect on my soul. I like going to this place called Asahan and unlike many youths, I like going to my grandma's house. Hmmmm~ This calls for... *drum roll* FLASH BACK!

Since I was small, cute little kid (i'm still cute) I would always come to this place call Asahan, visit my grandma and play with all my cuzzies. It's always fun coming here as there's no limit of our 'play-space'. You see, my grandma's house is connected to a primary school, literally. So we can go to the school any time we like and do as we please. Muahahahaha~ It's big enough for more than 15 kids to play hide and seek all day long. We can eat there, sleep there, and shi.. never mind. *sigh* I miss those days.

But, it's a special CNY. Why? Because all we old farts decided to play tag in the canteen! Imagine 7 huge buffalos running around a small canteen, sometimes jumping up the table, crashing here and there - utter chaos.. but still fun indeed. ahaks~
